CAPE TOWN PLASTIC SURGEON CV
A Tummy Tuck in our practice is a much smaller operation than an abdominoplasty
It is designed to tidy up the lowest part of the abdominal wall, below the umbilicus and above the pubis.
It usually consists of removal of skin and fatty tissue that makes a little roll above a Caesarian Section or hysterectomy scar.
The umbilicus is not re-positioned.
The procedure leaves a scar that stretches from hip to hip accross the lower abdomen, hidden in a conventional panty-line.
In our practice, the operation is commonly performed under local anaesthetic and Conscious Sedation.
Scars are managed by our usual scar care techniques.
The patient is required to wear a support garment for 4 weeks.
Recovery is usually rapid - Driving within 48 hours, swimming and gymming within 10days.
