SHORT TERM BREAST AUGMENTATION

Breast Augmentation is the enlargement and firming of the breasts by adding volume,
commonly in the form of an Implant/ Prosthesis.

It is, however, possible to safely increase the size of the breasts temporarily by carefully injecting a sterile saline solution such as would normally be used in an intravenous drip infusion.

The effect is immediate and at its best over 24 hours, but then injected fluid is reabsorbed over the next 48 hours and the breasts return to their previous size and shape.

The procedure can comfortably be done under Local Anaesthetic with, or without Conscious Sedation.

There are no scars apart from tiny needle punctures

To be safe, such injections must be done

  • with special cannulae that do not damage any tissues
     
  • under sterile conditions
     
  • by a surgeon who is extremely familiar with the anatomy of the breast.
    This knowledge can only come from having operated on many breasts before

 

Benefits experienced by most patients:

1. An opportunity to see what a permanent Breast augmentation would do

2. An opportunity to assess what volume of breast implant would work best for the individual

3. An interesting enhancement for a particular occasion

4. An opportunity to discuss Breast Augmentation with a partner who is ambivalent

5. Very tiny(virtually negligible) scars in the "trial run"

Negative Aspects:

1. A sterile procedure is required

2. The effect is temporary and short term

3. Surgical Complications, while rare, can occur- Infection, Bleeding, Haematoma, Seroma,

NB. This form of Breast Augmentation is NOT frivolous, but it has a special place.
