1984 Chamber of Mines of S.A , Rand Mutual Special Overseas Travelling Fellowship to study Microsurgical Techniques with Prof. Harry Buncke in San Francisco.

 

1986 Best Registrar Presentation at the University of Cape Town Division of Surgery’s annual Research Day.

 

1989 Johnson & Johnson Cash Prize, 3M Floating Trophy and the APRSSA Medal for “The Best Registrar Paper” at the 1989 annual congress of the Association of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons of South Africa.

 

1989 George Sacks Award for an OutstandingContribution to Post-Graduate Surgical Research at the University of Cape Town.
