Mining Industry hospital with 500 beds, 6 full-time medical officers and 238 trained staff members serving a community of 40,000 mineworkers.

Responsible for the day to day running of the hospital and for the guidance of other medical officers in the management of their patients in the wards and operating theatres.

In charge of all the medical aspects of all underground rescue operations for 4 large Gold mines, among the deepest mines on earth.

Surgeon in charge of all emergency and major trauma surgery in the hospital.

Deeply involved in major refurbishing and expansion of the hospital over a 2 year period. Working with architects, engineers, builders and suppliers to this end.
