Male Breast Reduction by Liposculpture

 

In case of Pseudogynaecomastia wherein the breast bulk consists largely of fatty tissue, the male breast can often be successfully reduced by using liposuction methods.

In our practice, we usually do this through 3 tiny stabwounds, one in the upper abdomen and and one under each breast.

The little scars left by these little wounds are unobtrusive and with time they virtually disappear.

The procedure is usually done under Local Anaesthetic with Conscious sedation and the patient goes home an hour after the surgery.

We infiltrate the breasts with a local anaesthetic solution and then suck out the fat using special syringes,

NO pumps or suction pipes as seen on TV

The patient is required to wear a pressure vest for 4 weeks after the operation.

Benefits experienced by most patients:

1. Flattening of the breasts

2. Improved self-image leading to greater confidence

3. The ability to wear swimwear and T-Shirts with greater confidence.

4. Very minimal and unobtrusive scarring

 

Negative effects

1. If there is breast tissue under the fat, it may have to be removed surgically.

2. Sensation in the nipple and areola may be altered

3. Surgical complications such as Infection, Haematoma, Seroma are a possible part of any operation.

There may be some nipple retraction and some contour irregularities.
